LWC Men's Basketball drops MSC game on the road to CU 72-56

Campbellsville, KY - The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team (RV) was defeated on the road at the Powell Athletic Center by Campbellsville University by a final of 72-56.

Lindsey Wilson connected on just 33 percent of its shots, going 19-of-57 from the field. Campbellsville shot 46 percent from the field, hitting on 28-of-61 field goals.

Reece Brooks led the scoring for the Blue Raiders with 21 points on 7-of-16 shooting. Kameron Mack added 12 points and six rebounds.

For the Tigers, Taiveyhon Mason led the scoring with 16 points as Richie Mitchell added 15 points.



Campbellsville started off the game with an early advantage, leading 17-13 at the 11:15 mark. The Tigers would successfully connect on 5-of-6 straight shots, pushing the lead to eight with 8:25 remaining in the half.

Lindsey Wilson failed to score a basket for over four minutes of play, allowing Campbellsville to clamp onto the lead at 26-19 with a little under five minutes remaining. Both teams struggled to score the ball as the half came to a close, but ultimately the Tigers rolled into the halftime locker room leading 33-26.

Matthew Eldridge led the scoring for LWC with eight, while Richie Mitchell garnered eight points to lead CU. Lindsey Wilson shot 33 percent from the field in the first half, while Campbellsville connected on 39 percent of its field goals.

The second half opened up in favor of Campbellsville, as the Tigers expanded the lead to 12 thanks to a 7-0 scoring run a few minutes in. Lindsey Wilson was able to trim into the deficit, but trailed by eight with 11:55 remaining. Over two minutes later, CU successfully extended the lead to 15 with LWC plagued by a three minute scoring drought.

The Blue Raiders were able to get the Tiger lead down to eight points with a little under three minutes remaining, but couldn't close the gap in the eventual 72-56 loss. Lindsey Wilson now sits at 17-10 on the season, including a 6-7 mark in Mid-South Conference play. With the win, Campbellsville improves to 16-11 and 6-7 in the Mid-South Conference.

The Blue Raiders return to action Feb. 20 to take on No. 1-ranked Georgetown (Ky.) at Biggers Sports Center. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m. CT.
