James L. Jenkins, 82, formerly of Columbia, KY James L. Jenkins, of Tampa, Florida, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, February 8, 2020. He was 82 years old. The family will hold a memorial service in Columbia, Kentucky at a future date yet to be set. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Jenkins and Mary Keis Jenkins as well as his brother, David Jenkins. James is survived by his wife Sue Janes Jenkins to whom he was married for 47 years, as well as one son and 3 daughters; Russell Jenkins of Cincinnati, OH; Nancy Moore and her husband Jim of Phoenix, AZ; Stacey Jenkins and her wife Jennifer Alfonso of Tampa, FL; Jamie Shover and her husband Chris of Camp Hill, PA. Also surviving are grandchildren Leslie, Scott, and Kylie Moore, and Dayne and Cade Shover. In addition James loved and was loved by his extended family and especially his nieces and nephews. James was born in Dubuque, Iowa and lived in Valparaiso, Indiana and Columbia, Kentucky for many years. After serving his country as a sergeant in the Army, he worked many years in the printing industry and retired as a Lithographic Manager from the US Can company. Also known as Jim or JJ he will be remembered for his stoic strength, eagerness to lend a helping hand, and his ability to fix or build anything. He enjoyed Sunday NASCAR races, golfing with his buddies, was a friend to everyone he met, and had an especially fantastic handlebar moustache. This story was posted on 2020-02-15 14:12:03
