LC Area Development District holds first meeting of 2020 By Jean A. Wilson, Executive Assistant On January 23, 2020, the Lake Cumberland Area Development District’s (LCADD) Board of Directors held its first meeting of the year at the district’s office in Russell Springs. The full board is automatically comprised of all judge-executives and mayors from Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor and Wayne counties. In addition, 20 citizens from all 10 counties serve on the Board. During the meeting, board officers for 2020 were elected as follows: Green County Judge-Executive John Frank, Chairman; Burnside Mayor Robert Lawson, Vice Chairman; Russell County Citizen Member June McGaha, Secretary; Campbellsville Mayor Brenda Allen, Treasurer. Cumberland County Judge-Executive John Phelps will serve as Past Chairman. In addition to board officers, the following were appointed to the executive committee: Adair County Citizen Member Curtis Hardwick; Columbia Citizen Member Sharon Payne; Albany Mayor Lyle Pierce; Casey County Judge-Executive Randy Dial; Doug Stephens, McCreary County’s mayor designee; and Wayne County Judge-Executive Mike Anderson. Chris Ramsey, representing Russell County, was appointed to the LCADD Board as a new citizen member. The following were reappointed as citizen members: Sharon Payne, representing Columbia; Eddie Wesley, representing Casey County; Hershell Key, representing Clinton County; Vickie Wells, representing Cumberland County; Phillip Cox, representing Green County; and Ted Coffey, representing McCreary County. The following leaders were appointed to head LCADD committees: Casey County Judge-Executive Randy Dial, Chairman of the Regional Water Management Planning Council; McCreary County Citizen Member Allan Chapman, Chairman of the Revolving Loan Fund Committee (RLF); and Burkesville Mayor Billy Guffey, Chairman of the Regional Transportation Committee. Judge John Frank and Judge John Phelps will serve on the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Council of Area Development Districts (KCADD). Special guest speakers at the meeting included Ron Shumard, Partnership Specialist for the U.S. Census Bureau, and Allison Cross, Community Liaison/Youth Programs Coordinator for The Center for Rural Development.
