Phyllis Ann Stephens Early, 76, Campbellsville, KY (1943-2020)

Phyllis Ann Stephens Early of Campbellsville passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020, at Green Hills Nursing Home in Greensburg, Kentucky. She was 76 years old.

Services will be at Main Street Baptist Church in Williamsburg, Kentucky on Monday, February 3, 2020. Visitation at the church will be from 11amET to 1pmET with the funeral to follow.

A visitation will be held at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Ave., Campbellsville, KY, from 1pmET to 4pmET on Saturday, February 1, 2020.


Phyllis was born March 18, 1943, to Curtis and Ora Mae Stephens of Pineville, Kentucky.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph E. Early, Sr., son Joseph E. Early, Jr. and wife Tiffany of Campbellsville, Kentucky, and her sister, Sharon Collett and husband, Rafe of Middlesboro, Kentucky. She has two brothers -in-law, Walter B. Early (deceased) and wife Nora of Hudson, Florida, and Richard H. Early and wife, Francis of Independence, Kentucky. Her nephews and nieces are Brian Early, Richard Early, Daphany Prewitt, Valerie Chabot, April Early, Richard Collett, Angela Gibson, and Rebecca Overholt. Phyllis also has thirteen great-nephews and nieces.

Phyllis loved teaching young people. She taught second grade in Mount Sterling Independent Schools, Mount Sterling, Kentucky; fifth grade in the Knoxville City School system, Knoxville, Tennessee, and seventh, eight, and second grade in the Williamsburg Independent School system from which she retired. She was an active and dedicated member of a local Baptist Church in every community she and her husband lived during their fifty-seven years together.

The family requests that in place of flowers donations be made to the Missions Fund at Saloma Baptist Church (Campbellsville, KY), the Building Fund at Campbellsville Baptist Church (Campbellsville, KY), or the Building Fund at Main Street Baptist Church (Williamsburg, KY).
