LWC Wrestling set to host Campbellsville tonight

The No. 4-ranked Lindsey Wilson wrestling team is set to host No. 7-ranked Campbellsville University tonight at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY, beginning at 7pmCT. The matchup marks the second dual this season between the Blue Raiders and Tigers, with Campbellsville claiming victory by a final score of 19-18 at the NAIA National Duals.

The Blue Raiders are returning to action after competing in the Missouri Valley Invite on Jan. 17-18, where the team finished 22nd of 48 teams.



Lindsey Wilson's projected lineup for the dual is Cagen Wallace at 125 pounds, Sam Bacon at 133 pounds, Trent Johnson at 141 pounds, Austin Ramsey / Zane Brown at 149 pounds, Derrick Smallwood at 157 pounds, Joe Koontz at 165 pounds, Trajan Hurd / Cameron Butler at 174 pounds, Trevor Lawson at 184 pounds, Carlos Figueroa at 197 pounds, and Brandon Reed at 285 pounds.

Out of the 12 Blue Raiders projected to wrestle in tonight's dual, six are ranked nationally in the NAIA. Brandon Reed is the highest ranked Lindsey Wilson wrestler, sitting at the top of the 285 pound weight class with the No.1 ranking. Derrick Smallwood currently ranks second in the 157-pound weight class. Trevor Lawson comes into the dual ranked fourth in the 184 pound weight division.

Cagen Wallace sits with the sixth place ranking in the 125 pound weight class, while Trajan Hurd also carries the sixth place ranking in the 174 pound weight class. Joe Koontz rounds things out with the No. 14-ranking in the 165 pound weight division.

Campbellsville (17-1) travels to Columbia after finishing fifth out of 48 teams at the Missouri Valley Invite on Jan. 17-18. The Tigers picked up 18 total pins at the invite, the most of any participating team. Campbellsville has 14 projected wrestlers, with 10 being ranked in the NAIA top-20 for their weight class. Five projected Tiger wrestlers rank in the top-10, which includes Marvin Galette (No. 7) / Kolten Radaz (No. 9) at 133 pounds, Dayton Marvel (No. 6) at 141 pounds, Zach Linton (No. 7) at 197 pounds, and Ashton Mutuwa (No. 9) at 285 pounds.

The dual is set to begin at 7pmCT from Biggers Sports Center.
