Cattlemen’s Association gathers to celebrate 25 years

The Cattlemen’s Association of Adair County celebrated 25 years on Monday evening January 27, 2020 with former Adair County Extension Agent for Agriculture David Herbst and Greg Corbin remembering the beginning days of the organization.

The large meeting room was filled with approximately 180 folks and the dinner featuring ribeye steak, grilled by Cattlemen's Association Board members just before the meeting started, received very favorable reviews from those gathered around the tables.

Cattlemen's Association of Adair County celebrates 25 years

David Herbst was the opening speaker at the Adair County Cattlemen’s Association Annual Meeting. The Cattlemen’s Association was organized and formed when David Herbst was the Adair County Extension Agent for Agriculture. He served as the Ag Agent from February 1994 to April 2007. David reflected on how the organization was formed and the many activities and educational opportunities that have been a part of the Adair County Cattlemen’s Association.

Barnes gets thanks for helping organize Cattlemen

Charles Barnes, at left, received a shout out for his work in the founding of the Adair County Cattlemen’s Association when former Adair County Extension Agent David Herbst spoke at the annual dinner. He said if Charles hadn't worked as treasurer they'd have had no money at all 25 years ago in the organizational phase. To his right are Kevin Odell and Paul Miller. Just under two hundred attended the event at the Extension Office.
