Letter: Possible scam note left on my door

James Roberts writes:

"I checked my front door and noticed that I had a Delivery Notice on it. It looked legit with official lettering, phone number and the first name of the contact person on it written with an ink pen.

"I called the number and finally got someone named "John". Thinking that this was an important letter or something of that nature he informed me that state law required that they make contact with someone to talk to them about final burial expenses.

"I quickly informed "John" that I was not interested at all.

"This may or may not be a scam. You should never let a stranger or someone that you don't know in your house!

"Be alert and be informed is the best defense. Just thought I would pass this along to protect others in the community." - James
