Gusta Brown Garrett, 87, Campbellsville, KY (1933-2020)

Gusta Brown Garrett of Campbellsville passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020. She was 87 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 11amET on Friday, January 17, 2020, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Ave., Campbellsville, KY, officiated by Pastor Jase Divens. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from 5pmET until 8pmET on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.


Gusta Brown Garrett, daughter of the late Ray Cox and Nora Mae Hughes Cox, was born February 27, 1932 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 11:35 A.M., Monday, January 13, 2020 in Louisville.

She professed faith in Christ and attended Campbellsville Baptist Temple.

She was a retired employee of Fruit of The Loom.

Gusta was a loving mother and grandmother who liked to stay active and productive and could always be found sewing, working in her yard, gardening or canning food.

She united in marriage to Garnie Garrett, December 26, 1980 and he preceded her in death July 4, 1989.

She is survived by two daughters: Donna Lile and husband, Ricky of Campbellsville and Kathy Wiser and husband, Ray of Bradfordsville; three grandchildren: Jennifer Browning and fiance, Milton Hammons of Burgin, Brandy Chelf and husband, Scott and Brent Lile and wife, Jessica of Campbellsville; seven great-grandchildren: Clay Rodgers, Landon Browning, Noah Chelf, Evelyn Chelf, Scotty Chelf, Ashton Chelf and Owen Lile; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Gusta was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Tammy Wiser April 27, 1992 and six brothers and three sisters: Aaron Cox, Roy Cox, Ed Cox, Coy Cox, Howard Cox, Andy Cox, Vernith Parrish, Ida Bell Wilson and Elizabeth Cox.
