Wilson, Yarberry and Wheeler families gather

The Wilson, Yarberry and Wheeler families gathered for a reunion that was enjoyed by a huge crowd on Sunday, August 31 at The Church Of Nazarene, Wheet Fellowship Hall in Columbia.

Eleveta Sparks is credited with having done the original organizational work over three years ago which resulted in the annual gathering of these three Adair County family groups.

We appreciate Carlis B. Wilson for connecting Columbia Magazine with the special event, and Mrs. Sparks for having gathered the names for the photos. With her experience working in the library at Lindsey Wilson, everyone yielded to her as communications chief. The Wilson family group was so large that names were hard to gather so we're printing the story and photos now in hopes that when the names do come in we'll be able to add them later.

The oldest person in attendance was Mr. Roach Jessee, 90, of Columbia, who grew up in Sparksville. To see photos that accompany this article, scroll down below the text.

Carlis Wilson has written extensively about the families. Click here to read his work.
