J. S. Emerson, 86, Russell Springs, KY (1934-2020)

J. S. Emerson of Russell Springs passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at the Russell County Hospital. He was 86 years old.

The funeral service for J. S. Emerson will be held at 10amCT on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N. Main St., Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Glen Richardson, Bro. Ronald Wilson, and Bro. Ryan Coffey officiating. Interment will follow in the Russell Springs City Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from 5pmCT until 8pmCT on Tuesday and from 8amCT to 10amCT on Wednesday.

He was born January 4, 1934 in Russell County to the late Ira & Elda Harris Emerson.

He was a member of Russell Springs United Baptist Church where he served as deacon, song leader, and teacher. He was co-owner of Emerson's Mfg. Company and former Russell Springs City Councilman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Hubbard.

Survivors include:
  • His wife: Elizabeth Emerson, Russell Springs
  • A son: Charles (Angela) Emerson, Russell Springs
  • Two grandchildren: Tiffany (Kendall) Catron, Russell Springs, and Justin Ray Emerson, Russell Springs
  • Two great granddaughters: Taylor Catron and Jalyn Catron
  • A brother: Estus (June) Emerson, Russell Springs
  • A brother-in-law: Bobby Hubbard, Russell Springs
Pallbearers: Gary Emerson, Jeff Hubbard, Bodie Emerson, Dennis Gosser, Kevin Antle, Kendall Catron

Honorary Pallbearers: Kenny Catron, Mark Kinnett
