CU and Isaiah House partner in a year recovery By Zac Oakes The year 2019 could be described as a year of growth at Isaiah House Treatment Centers. Isaiah House opened two new treatment centers in 2019, including a women's residential facility in February 2019, the Lisa Walker Center in Harrodsburg. Additionally, Isaiah House Outpatient Services opened in Danville in the spring. The year 2019 also produced the first certified welding classes at Isaiah House, as well as IH being certified by the United States Department of Education as a satellite campus of Campbellsville University, the only treatment center in the U.S. to earn such a designation. Isaiah House and Campbellsville University formed a partnership to provide certified welding classes to men at Isaiah House in long-term treatment by installing 10 welding stations at the Isaiah House Main Campus in Willisburg (Washington County). An anonymous donor also provided the ability to put in necessary ventilation system at the Mike Mullins Vocational Center. This investment by Isaiah House's partners adds to the Isaiah House "H.O.P.E" (Hope, Opportunity, Purpose, Employment) program, which provides long-term residential clients with guaranteed full-time employment after 100 days in the program, as well as the opportunity to receive a GED and up to 12 transferable college credit hours, also through Campbellsville University. "The ability to gain job training skills and employment is critical to long term success in sobriety," Isaiah House President Mike Cox said. "We appreciate our partnership with Campbellsville University to provide these certified welding classes to our clients. We also appreciate the organization that donated $50,000 to purchase the required air filtration and ventilation system for this program. We are deeply indebted to organizations like these who invest and partner with us in saving lives." The inaugural fall semester of welding classes was a success and spring semester classes will begin in a couple weeks. The H.O.P.E. Program also led to Isaiah House to being recognized by the Kentucky Nonprofit Network as the 2019 Innovative Nonprofit of the Year. "I am so impressed at the work of KNN and all that non-profits do for our counties and state," Isaiah House CEO/Founder Mark LaPalme said. "We are grateful to them and for this acknowledgment of our continued efforts over the last 20 years to lead the country in addiction treatment." Isaiah House won for its innovative approach to providing clients with the skills they need to live a life free of substance abuse. The alumni-managed and client-operated businesses train and provide employment for individuals in recovery, providing needed the on-the job-training - especially for clients with criminal records challenged to find employment. A few other notable accomplishments from Isaiah House in 2019: Isaiah House opened a new transitional living home in Lexington. Founders Mark and Tammy LaPalme were recognized at the Celebration of Second Chances Derby Eve party at the Kentucky Castle. Isaiah House helped place 43 clients into college programs Isaiah House hosted three state-certified Adult Peer Support Specialist trainings Isaiah House Treatment Center is a residential, intensive outpatient and outpatient treatment program with a Gold Standard of care for men & women. Isaiah House is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and dual-licensed with the state of Kentucky as an Alcohol and Other Drug Entity (AODE), as well as a Behavioral Health Service Organization (BHSO).
