Eva Gadberry, 89, former Gadberry post mistress, dies

Eva Gadberry, 89, long time post mistress at Gadberry, and a life-long Adair County resident, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2003, at 5:00 p.m. at the Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. She had been ill for several months.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, August 28, 2003, at 2:00 p.m., at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia, KY, with Bro. Scott Eubank and Bro. Randall McPherson officiating.


She was the daughter of the late Solomon and Catherine Banks McFarland of Adair County, KY.

Mrs. Gadberry was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Gadberry, on November 3, 1982.

She is survived by the following:
  • One son, Joseph Gadberry, Columbia, KY
  • Three daughters, Frances Antle, and her husband Kenton; Gertrude Gadberry, and Elaine Turner, all of Columbia, KY
  • One sister, Mary Riggins, Columbia, KY
  • Three grandchildren, Brett Antle, Michele Hale, and Rodney Turner
Mrs. Gadberry was a member of the Jamestown Church of Christ and a homemaker. Besides her tenure as post mistress at Gadberry, she was a longtime employee of Callison Cleaners.

Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery.

The family requests visitation after 3:30 p.m., on Tuesday, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
