Davie Roy dies from injuries received in August 14 motorcycle accident

David "Davie" Roy, 26, 2514 Hwy 1870, Russell Springs, KY, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2003, at 10:05 a.m. at UK medical center in Lexington, KY, from injuries received in a motorcycle accident on August 14, 2003, in Russell County.

The funeral service will be Saturday, August 23, 2003, at 1:00 p.m., at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, with Rev. Eric Gilbert, Bro. Stanley Watson, and Bro. Jeff Aaron officiating.


He was the son of David V. and Anita Burton Roy of Russell Springs, KY.

Besides his parents, he is survived by the following:
  • One sister, Christy J. Bennett, and her husband, Adam, Russell Springs, KY
  • His paternal grandmother, Thelma Roy, Columbia, KY
  • His maternal grandparents, Roger and Myrtle Bryant Burton, Russell Springs, KY
  • One niece, Morgan Bennett
  • and a host of aunts and uncles including a special uncle Randall Burton.
David Roy was parts manager for Franklin Nissan in Columbia.

He was a former employee of Stotts-Phelsp-McQueary Funeral Home.

He was an avid dirt car racer.

Interment will be in Freedom Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the David Roy fund established at the First National Bank in Russell Springs. The fund will help to pay medical bills.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Visitation will be after 1:30 p.m., Friday, August 22, 2003.
