Mr. Wadlow's visit, 1939 By JIM The attached image is part of a paid announcement placed in the Adair County News for a number of weeks before Mr. Wadlow's arrival in Columbia on Monday, May 3, 1939. (The rest of the announcement was a brief biographical sketch -- and a reminder that Lerman Bros. carried footwear manufactured by the Peters Shoe Company, the same firm that custom made Mr. Wadlow's.) Two day's after the visit, the News printed an article headlined "Thousands See Giant at Lerman Bros.
