Talmadge Murphy, 90, Liberty, KY (1929-2019) Talmadge Winfrey Murphy of Liberty passed away on Wednesday December 11th, 2019 at his residence. He was 90 years old. Funeral services will be held at 1pmET on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 KY Hwy 49, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Johnny Maupin officiating. Burial will follow in the Rich Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 10:30amET on Saturday December 14th, 2019 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. He was born in Argyle, KY on November 29th, 1929 a son of the late Willie B. and Ora Katherine Wall Murphy. He united in marriage to Wanda Mathews Murphy on February 16th, 1951. Talmadge was a retired heavy duty mechanic from Hinkle Contracting Corporation in 1994, He enjoyed hunting shooting skeet, NASCAR, mowing his yard and spending time with his family. He will be sorely missed by his family and community. Survivors include: Four Children: Kathy and (Johnny Ray) Watson of Liberty, Dempsey and (Terri) Murphy of Harrodsburg, Jeffrey and (Renita) Murphy of Liberty and Karen and (Gary) Black of Liberty, a nephew who was more like a son: Donald "Bud" and (Kathy) Mathews of Liberty, Eleven Grandchildren, Twenty-Seven Great Grandchildren, Four Great Great Grandchildren and One Sister: Iva Dean Price of Casey County. Preceding him in death besides his parents and spouse was One Granddaughter: Jennie Black Tarter, Two Brothers: Russell Murphy and J.T. Murphy and Two Sisters: Maureen Durham and Shirley Spaw. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made in his name to the National Rifle Association of America 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030.
