James C. ''Jiggs'' Parnell, 78, World War II veteran

World War II veteran James C. "Jiggs" Parnell, 78, 3093 Jones Chapel Road, Columbia, KY, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at his residence.

The funeral service will be Friday, August 1, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Rev. John Blakey and Rev. Ronnie Dooley officiating.


Mr. Parnell was a member of the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church and a farmer.

He was the son of the late J.O. and Dellie Rogers Parnell.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mouser Parnell, Columbia, KY.

He is further survived by the following.
  • One daughter, Carolyn Richard, and her husband Johnny of Columbia.
  • Two sons, Billy Joe Parnell, Bowling Green, KY; and Mike Parnell and his wife, Sherry, Columbia, KY.
  • Four sisters, Pauline Sneed, Lillian Coomer, Alice Sneed, and Flossie Hamlett, all of Columbia.
  • and four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery with military honors with VFW Post 6097 in charge.

Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m., Thursday, July 31.

Grissom Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
