Thomas (Sam) Dunbar, 84, Russell Springs, KY (1935-2019)

Thomas "Sam" Dunbar Russell Springs passed away on Friday, November 29, 2019 at his home. He was 84 years old.

The funeral service for Thomas "Sam" Dunbar will be held at 11amCT on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N. Main St., Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Bobby Conner officiating. Special music will be performed by Doyle & Brenda Wilson. Interment will follow in the Square Oak Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from 5pmCT until 8pmCT on Tuesday and from 8amCT to 11amCT on Wednesday.


He was born February 16, 1935 in Russell County to the late Elmer and Dona Johnson Dunbar.

Sam was a farmer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Sallie Dunbar (DOD-May 12, 1997) and Charlene Dowell Dunbar (DOD-Dec. 8, 2012); 2 brothers, Morris "Wooley" Dunbar and Keith Dunbar.

Survivors include:
  • His sister: Jean Popplewell, Russell Springs
  • A host of nieces and nephews
Pallbearers: Gary Cain, Jim Kerr, Alex Popplewell, Vince Popplewell, Chris McGowan, Milze McGowan
