Lt. Col. USAF Robert Empsley Baker, 80, WWII and Korean Conflict Veteran

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home shares this news of the death of former Adair Countian, Lt. Col. USAF Robert Empsley Baker, retired. Services will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2003, 10 a.m., at Sparkman Funeral Home in Richardson, Texas.

Mr. Baker died Friday, July 18, in Texas where he is survived by his wife of 51 years, Reba Thomas Baker. He was the son of the late Sam and Zora Coomer Baker.

He is also survived by two sons, Robert L. Baker and David A. Baker; one daughter, Betty S. Wisdom, and her husband Dennis; two brothers, Clovis Baker and his wife Lucille of Columbia; Sammy Baker and his wife Nadean of Cundiff; one sister, Lucille Taylor of Louisville; five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Opal Denny.

Mr. Baker was a 32nd Degree Mason, served as a bombardier in World War II, as an aerial photographer in Korean Conflict and retired from the Air Force at Custer Air Force Base in Battle Creek, Michigan on March 30, 1966 and after 23 years of service. He was an avid golfer and automotive enthusiast and was in the insurance business for many years prior to retirement.

Burial with military honors will follow the service at noon at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
