Annexation issue finalized at called City Council meeting By Linda Waggener, City Council Member The Columbia City Council met in a Special Called Meeting Thursday, November 14, 2019, at NoonCT and the following actions were taken: - The Council heard the second Reading of Ordinance No. 110.44 to annex Pinewood Center. The vote was unanimous to annex the 17 acre property and grants the property owners a “five-year real property tax abatement for any and all real property taxes owing to the city as a result of the property becoming territory of the city of Columbia." - The Council voted unanimously to appoint Jennifer Furkin to the City of Columbia Planning and Zoning Commission with a term to expire November 2023. - The Council approved half the cost of additional equipment needed for the new 2018 Spartan Fire Engine in the amount of $5,942.39 requested by the Fire Department.
