Marlene Taylor, 77, Casey Co., KY native (1942-2019)

Marlene Elmore Taylor of Gallatin, TN left this world after a stroke at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville on Sunday October 27, 2019. She was 77 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2pmET on Friday November 1, 2019, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 KY Hwy 49, Liberty, KY, with Bro Dwight Bastin officiating. Burial will be in the Grove Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at 11amET on Friday November 1, 2019 at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.


Marlene was married to Gerald R. Taylor who preceded her in death on May 2014.

Marlene was born February 20th, 1942, on Indian Creek in the Middleburg Community. Gerald was from the Creston Community.

She was a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church.

Marlene and Gerald had four children:
  • Greg and Kathy Taylor from Bowling Green, KY
  • Jackie and James Dowell of Gallatin, TN
  • Jennifer Taylor of Springfield, TN
  • Shawn and Chasity Taylor of Spanish Fort, AL
They have 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents: Oscar and Clydell Perkins Elmore of Liberty and five siblings: Christine Bastin, Raymond "Bud" Elmore, Betty Bernard, Gerald Elmore and Juanita Lee. She is survived by two sisters: Glenda Garrett of Dunnville and Connie Montgomery of Liberty.

Marlene was a housewife, caregiver for her daughter Jennifer and a nature and pet lover. Over the years she planted plants and trees from the Elmore family farm on Indian Creek and these still stand in her huge yard.

She had several dogs though the years and leaves her well fed Macy behind.
