Avoiding fraud and scams during the 2020 Census The Census Bureau has been conducting in-field address canvassing since August 2019, in preparation for Census Day, April 1, 2020. By that date, households will have received an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census. For the first time, there are three options for responding: online, by mail, or by phone. The U.S. Census Bureau is committed to making the 2020 Census quick, easy, and safe for all participants. Here are some tips to help you avoid scams and fraud.
