LWC Swimming hosts Life Saturday afternoon

The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's swimming teams are back in the pool Saturday afternoon to face Life (GA) at NoonCT at the Holloway Center Natatorium in the Holloway Health & Wellness Center, 399 Williams St., Columbia, KY.


The Blue Raider men's swimming team (0-2) was victorious in six events and recorded three national A standard times in a close 106-96 loss to No. 10-ranked Asbury (Ky.) on October 11th. William Thilwind, Bryce Rice, Reece Kincaid and Ron Wolfart notched the first A-cut of the matchup with a 200-yard medley relay time of one minute and 39.05 seconds. The quartet of Ricky Dungan, Jordan Schaeffer, Tyler King and James de Goede also scored a national A-cut standard time and a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a final time of 1:30.31. Thilwind later scored the final A-cut in the 100-yard backstroke and a first place finish with a time of 54.30 first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a B-cut time of 49.11.

Along with Thilwind's first place finish, Lindsey Wilson saw Kincaid notch an individual first-place finish with a B-cut standard time in the 500-yard freestyle at 4:59.55, Rice finish first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a national B standard time of 1:01.52, and de Goede secure first place with a time of 22.67 in the 50-yard freestyle.

Friday marks the third meeting between the men's programs in a dual meet, with the Blue Raiders leading the series 2-0. The most recent matchup resulted in a 496-436 Lindsey Wilson victory last season.

The Blue Raider women's swimming team (1-1) returns to action after defeating Asbury 112-89 on October 11th. The Blue Raiders recorded seven first-place finishes in the winning effort. Jessica Macdonald won the 100-yard freestyle and recorded an A-cut with a time of 54.23. Macdonald secured another A-cut in her second individual victory with a time of 1:59.44 in the 200-yard freestyle. Macdonald would team up with Carlene Taylor, Narjiss Bourbouh and Annissa Koekemoer to secure another A-cut and first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.29.

Taylor captured another Lindsey Wilson first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a B-cut standard time of 25.67, while Emma Phillips finished first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:56.44. Bourbouh won the 100-yard butterfly with an A-cut time of 1:00.82, and Koekemoer notched a B-cut and a first place victory in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.15.

Saturday will be the third meeting between the women's programs in a dual meet, with the Blue Raiders leading the series 2-0. Last season's matchup resulted in a 686-218 win for Lindsey Wilson.
