2020 Kentucky Census Quilt to be showcased at libraries By Gabe Tomlin Frankfort, KY - The Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA), an agency within the Education and Workforce Development Cabinet (EWDC), is pleased to announce a collaboration with the Kentucky Extension Homemakers Association (KEHA) and the U.S. Census Bureau to showcase the 2020 U.S. Census Quilt. In partnership with the U.S. Census Bureau, KEHA created a unique quilt featuring a square from each of Kentucky's 120 counties. The quilt will travel across the Commonwealth to highlight each county's significance and remind Kentuckians that every person must be counted to ensure Kentucky has appropriate congressional representation and federal funding. The 2020 Kentucky Census Quilt was unveiled at the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, KY. The quilt will be on display at various public libraries and extension offices through 2020: Breckinridge, Boyle, Estill, Fayette, Graves, Jackson, McLean, Monroe, Oldham, Pendleton, Rockcastle, Spencer, Union, and Wolfe. Following the tour throughout the Commonwealth, the quilt will be on display in the KDLA lobby in Frankfort, Kentucky. The U.S. Census occurs once every decade to track the shifts in population across our country. KDLA encourages every Kentuckian to visit their local public library to complete the online census questionnaire. KDLA provides equitable access to quality library and information resources and services, as well as helps public agencies ensure that legislatively mandated documentation of government programs is created, efficiently maintained and made accessibly.
