Former Adair pastor, World War II hero, Rev. Rountree, 82, dies in Bowling Green Rev. William Marion Rountree, a decorated World War II hero, who pastored Methodist Churches in Adair County many years ago, died at age 82, on Monday, May 26, 2003, at the Bowling Green Medical Center. Rev. Rountree was the son of the late Virgil and Ethel Luttrell Rountree. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jones Rountree, Bowling Green, KY. He is further survived by the following.
Rev. Rountree was a United Methodist Minister for 32 years, pastoring churches in Adair, Taylor, Jefferson, Barren, Edmonson, and Warren Counties. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 32nd Infantry Division. He received with the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.Rev. Rountree was a 60 year Mason, a 50 year member of the Grand Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons. He was Kentucky Colonel. He had served as President of the Caveland and Glasgow-Barren County Ministerial Association. His funeral was Thursday, May 29, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapel, 820 Lovers Lane, Bowling Green. Rev. Wayne Davis, Rev. Michael Price, and Rev. Mark Rogers officiated. Interment was in the Resthave Cemetery, Louisville, KY, with a chapel service there at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time, Thursday, May 29.
