Alene Whittle Bennett, 96, Russell Co. native (1923-2019)

Mrs. Alene Whittle Bennett of Lexington passed away on Friday, October 11, 2019. She was 96 years old.

The funeral services for Mrs. Alene Whittle Bennett will be conducted at 5pmCT on Sunday, October 13, 2019, at the Greensburg Church of the Nazarene, 31 Blue Bird Ln, Greensburg, KY.

Graveside services will be held at 10amCT on Monday, October 14, 2019, at the Parmley's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Monticello.

Visitation is requested after 2pmCT on Sunday at the Greensburg Church of the Nazarene until time of the funeral service.



Mrs. Alene Whittle Bennett of Lexington, Kentucky, formerly of Greensburg, and also formerly of Monticello, Kentucky was the daughter of the late Liston Whittle and Flonnie D. Smith Whittle.

She was born on Thursday, August 2, 1923 in Russell County, Kentucky and departed this life on Friday, October 11, 2019 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. She was 96 years, two months, and nine days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ, attended the Greensburg Church of the Nazarene and was also a member of the Parmley's Grove Baptist Church in Monticello. She had worked as a Machine Operator for Standard Overall (now Cintas), later for the Wayne County School System in the Cafeteria, was a homemaker, and a very kind and loving person to all.

She united in marriage to Arnold Earl Bennett who preceded her in death on August 23, 1993.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law: Danny K. Bennett of Milford, Ohio, and Joel Dean Bennett and Suzanne Bennett of Lexington; three grandchildren: Hannah Carol Bennett, Micah Daniel Bennett and his wife, Kiley Shuffett Bennett, and Lydia Faith Bennett all of Lexington; a great-granddaughter: Harper Alene Bennett of Lexington; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Mrs. Bennett was also preceded in death by a sister: Mary Blanche Morris.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Greensburg Church of the Nazarene, Lake Cumberland A.D.D. "Meals on Wheels" or the Lake Cumberland A.D.D. Home Care Program, which can be made at the funeral home.
