Cleo Thornton, 96, Adair Co., KY native (1923-2019)

Cleo Harden Thornton of Campbellsville, Kentucky, formerly of the Egypt community in Adair County, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019 at 4:15 P.M. at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. She was 96 years old.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 7, 2019, at NoonCT at Eunice Church of God, 12515 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY, with Bishop Raymond Ross delivering the Eulogy. Burial will follow in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 10amCT on Monday at the Church.


She was born July 19, 1923. Cleo was a member of Eunice Church of God. She loved serving God, gardening, canning, sewing and singing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Thornton on June 4, 1995.

Survivors include:
  • One son - Tommy Thornton, Jr. of Somerset
  • Two daughters - Bertha Cleo Johnson and Patricia Ann Johnson both of Campbellsville
  • One brother - Paul Davis Harden of Sandusky, Ohio
  • Three grandchildren - Pamela Ann Meaux, Melisha Boyd and Jessica Hatcher
  • Five great-grandchildren - Michael Anthony, Trevon, Kyree, Kaiden and Aliyssia
  • Several other relatives and friends
