LWC Volleyball defeats Campbellsville in three sets

The No. 10-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team defeated Campbellsville University in a three-set Mid-South Conference battle tonight at Biggers Sports Center.

Freshman Kasia Niderla led the Blue Raiders with 13 kills, while Alexis Smith trailed right behind with 12. Autumn Proctor and Camryn Rich each recorded 17 assists in the match. On defense, Lauren Larzelere led the charge with 16 digs with Elly Burke close behind her with 13. During tonight's match, Burke recorded her 1,000th career kill and currently sits sixth all-time in career kills at Lindsey Wilson.



The Blue Raiders got off to a hot start in the first set, holding a 12-5 lead early. The Tigers clawed their way back into the match late, cutting the Blue Raider lead to five in the closing stages. However, Lindsey Wilson completed a 5-2 run to secure the 25-17 set-one victory. Kasia Niderla led the Blue Raiders on offense with five kills, while Proctor and Rich combined for the team's 13 assists. On defense, Larzelere led the charge tallying nine digs. The Blue Raiders hit .265, while the Tigers hit .200.

The second set began as a back and forth battle between the two rivals, as the two teams split the first 20 points. However, the Blue Raiders began to create distance from the Tigers, going on a 10-1 run to take a 20-11 lead which eventually played a key role in the 25-17 set victory. Niderla lead Lindsey Wilson with five kills, while Proctor and Rich combined for 11 assists. On defense, Larzelere lead the Blue Raiders with six digs. Lindsey Wilson finished the set hitting .360 while Campbellsville hit .061.

Attempting to keep the match alive, the Tigers played a back and forth third set with the Blue Raiders, as Lindsey Wilson held a close 11-10 lead early on. However, the Blue Raiders completed an 8-2 run to create distance at 19-11. Despite a late push from Campbellsville, Lindsey Wilson won the third set 25-17 to complete the three-set victory. Alexis Smith led the Blue Raiders with five kills, while Proctor led with six assists. On defense, Burke recorded seven digs leading the way for Lindsey Wilson. The Blue Raiders finished the set hitting .414, while the Tigers finished hitting .212.

The Blue Raiders return to action at 6pmCT on Tuesday, October 1 to face Georgetown on the road in another Mid-South Conference battle.
