Two more events are planned at Flatwoods Rosenwald School, Wednesday morning, September 25, 2019 and Saturday, October 5, 2019. Everyone is welcome to show up and volunteer to help save this one-room school.

The Band of Brothers would like to say a heartfelt "thank you!" to all who turned out in the Flatwoods Saturday, September 21, 2019 to volunteer for helping begin restoration of the Rosenwald School.

A second workday is scheduled for Saturday, October 5, 2019 starting at 7amCT. Please help spread the word to any who feel called to donate volunteer time to the cause of restoring this rare one-room schoolhouse.

- Entry porch boards replaced as needed

- Screens removed & extensive work on windows removing putty, stabilizing glass, caulking, etc. still a lot more to do.

- Porch/roof was jacked up & supported

- Broken entry door was repaired thanks to Don Knifley & a Gradyville craftsman (don't know name)

- Missing window measured & again, thanks to Don Knifley working with Green River Window & Door, is now being made

- Benches, desks, etc carried outside and cleaned by many volunteers, including the Adair Heritage Association members who took on the beginning project to underwrite

- Floors were cleaned inside the school
