Leroy Murphy, 60 The funeral service for Leroy Murphy, 60, 4037 Sparksville Road, Columbia, KY, was held Friday, April 25, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia. Mr. Murphy died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at 9:30 a.m. at his home, after an illness. He was an oil well driller retired from Taylor Ol Company and was a member of Tabor Community Church. He was the son of the late Earl and Ruby Adams Murphy of Adair County. Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife, Gale Robinson Murphy of Columbia; two sons, James Murphy and his wife Kim of Breeding, KY, and Leroy Murphy, Jr. and his wife Chastity of Columbia, KY; two daughters, Janice Rooks and her husband of Larry of Columbia, KY and Candi O'Dell and her husband Bentley of Columbia. KY; two step-children, Angela Richard and her husband Tim, and Felisha Atchley and her husband Shawn of Russell Springs, KY; two brothers, Glenn Murphy of Columbia, KY, and Howard Murphy of Greensburg, KY; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Murphy, Greensburg, KY; and five grandchildren, Cheyayne Coffey, Samantha Jo Murphy, Tristan Murphy, Hannah O'Dell, and Charlize O'Dell. Eight Step grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Harlan, Gene and Ronnie Murphy; and one sister. Jeanette Taylor. Interment was in Haven Hill Cemetery. Bro. Jimmy Murphy and Bro. Ralph Hadley officiated. Pallbearers were Ryan Parnell, J.D. Janes, Gary Murphy, Terry Murphy, Preston Murphy, and Dale Murphy. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Expresions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the American Cancer Society.
