ACHD looks at SWOT analysis in substance abuse fight

Health Education Director Tracy Aaron from Lake Cumberland District Health Department was the presenter at the September WATCH Coalition meeting to help agency leaders in attendance look at where Adair County stands in the fight against illegal drug abuse. The SWOT analysis from the response plan conducted at the meeting follows:

Strengths - positive points

Narcan availability - Rhonda Akin, RN, nursing supervisor, is able to provide FREE Narcan samples at the Adair Health Department on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays after 3pmCT to any member of public. Walk-ins are welcome to have the one-on-one time for coaching and the free sample.

Watch Coalition/ Interagency group shares opportunities

The Adair County WATCH Coalition Met today at the Health Department in Columbia. The group, formerly Interagency Council, gathers monthly to share news of opportunities in various programs working to help individuals and students have healthier lives. Standing is speaker Rhonda Akin, RN, Nursing Supervisor at the Adair County Health Department, who made Narcan available to each in attendance and she also has the life saving treatment available for any member of the public.

New LWC leader introduced at WATCH Coalition meeting

New to the WATCH Coalition - Jeff Crane, Lindsey Wilson College Dean of the School of Professional Counseling was introduced to the September WATCH Coalition group by Jelaine Harlow, LCDHD Health Education Coordinator; and Dr. Pat Hardesty, LWC Professor of Counselor Education and Supervision. The WATCH group meets monthly to bring agencies together for discussion and coordination of services.
