Bennie Russell Lawhorn, 86, Liberty, KY (1933-2019)

Bennie Russell Lawhorn of Liberty passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019, at Liberty Care and Rehab. He was 86 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 11amET on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville St, Liberty, KY, with Janet Carden officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by the Casey County Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 5pmET to 8pmET on Monday, September 9, 2019, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. Masonic rites will be held at 7pmET on Monday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

Born on May 22, 1933, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late James and Ada Davis Lawhorn. Bennie was a lifelong dairy farmer and a bus drive for numerous years. He was a member of First Christian Church of Liberty, a member of the Casey Swingers and a Craftsman Lodge Masonic member #722. Bennie was a Korean war veteran and later went on to become the commander of the original Casey County Honor Guard, of which he was very proud. Along with his wife, he was also a member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen (Mark) Reynolds of Campbellsville; a son, Tim (Pam) Lawhorn of Liberty; a sister, Alice Voelker; and a brother, James Alton Lawhorn.

Arrangements for Mr. Bennie Lawhorn are entrusted to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. An online guestbook is available at
