Henry Co. man escapes fire thanks to barking dog

There's a famous, award-winning novel "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" by Mark Haddon. In Larry Ingabrand's case, a curious dog that barked him awake around 3 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, may have saved the Port Royal resident's life. "The dog kept barking and woke me up," Ingabrand said. "When I stood up, I smelled smoke. I grabbed my coat and shoes and got out."

Rezzie the wonder dog

Larry Ingabrand gets a kiss from Rezzie, whose bark saved Larry's life when a fire broke out at his home Aug. 14. Larry says he woke up, smelled smoke, grabbed his coat and shoes and ran out. Rezzie ran out before him.
