State road worker dies in Taylor County road construction accident

Taylor County emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene of a fatal accident Friday in a road re-surfacing work-zone area on Highway 70.

Taylor Co. Sheriff Allen Newton said that 44 year old Keith Jewell of Greensburg, KY died after being struck by a truck while resurfacing a portion of Hwy 70 near the Mannsville community.



Jewell was an inspector for the Kentucky Department of Highways. The driver of the truck was 56 year old Phillip Kirkland of Bradfordsville, KY and the truck was owned by Haydon Materials.

Jewell was pronounced dead at Taylor Regional Hospital. The fatal accident occured late Friday afternoon and was investigated by Deputy Dickie Benningfield with the Taylor County Sheriffs Office.
