Adair FFA in competition at Kentucky State Fair

The Adair County FFA Chapter will have a large display of items in display at the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville this year. They will be competing for the best state agriculture mechanics exhibit.

Items include a large BBQ Smoker, Custom built trailer, picnic table and bench.

The centerpiece will be a 1958 Farmall Cub restored for Don and Betty Knifley. The tractor was owned by Betty’s late father, James Edwin Shirley.



The display of items, including the tractor will be in the South Wing of the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center throughout the fair.

Members of the FFA tractor team, Coached by Robbie Davidson, are Walter Baker, Braxton Coomer, Casey Wall, Reece Giles, Walker Karnes, and Jacob Morrison. Special thanks to Welding Instructor, Barney Taylor and the many local businesses and individuals who have helped with the shop projects.

James Edwin Shirley's 1958 Farmall Cub tractor - before FFA

Don and Betty Knifley entrusted her late father James Edwin Shirley's 1958 Farmall Cub tractor to the Adair County FFA Chapter for restoration. It was in this condition before the members did their work. Now, fully restored, it will be part of the FFA display in competition at the upcoming Kentucky State Fair.

Lots of ribbons for tractor project

The 1958 Farmall Cub that the Adair County FFA Chapter restored for Don and Betty Knifley is now adorned with ribbons at the Kentucky State Fair. The project has pride-of-place in the giant FFA section in the South Wing, and was attracting a steady stream of admirers on Friday.

Adair FFA Smoker and Trailer

This large BBQ smoker and custom-built trailer submitted by the Adair County FFA were also ribbon winners at the fair. The display of items will be in the South Wing of the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center throughout the fair, which runs through August 25, 2019.
