Ruthie Burton, 87 The funeral service for Ruthie Burton, 87, was Thursday, March 6, 2003, at 1:30 p.m. at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia, KY. Mrs. Burton died Tuesday, March 4, at 4:45 p.m. at the Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY. She was the daughter of the late Pete and Ethel Bryant and the widow of Lether Burton, who preceded her in death on September 4, 1987. She is survived by one daughter, Katie McKinney, and her husband, Robert, Columbia; five sons, Joseph and his wife Rachel; Jimmy Burton and his wife Judy; Zenith Burton and his wife Maxine; Wendell Burton and his wife Fay; and Onda Wayne Burton, all of Columbia. She was preceded in death by the following children: Ronald Burton, Gobel Burton, Miney Burton, and Wanda Burton. Also surviving are two brothers, E.P. Bryant, Columbia, and Montie Bryant, Edinburg, IN; three sisters, Geneva Rooks and Alvene Burton, both of Edinburgh, IN, and Lona Burton, Franklin, IN; 13 grandchildren, eight grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Kevin Burton. Mrs. Burton attended the Purdy Separate Baptist Church and was a homemaker and farmer. Rev. George Hancock and Rev. C.D. Goodin officiated at the funeral. Interment was in Bearwallow Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons and Melvin Bailey, Jimmy Bailey, Elby McGaha, Deane McGaha, David Rich, and Randy Hatcher.
