William Garlan McFarland, 83 William Garlan McFarland, 83, 4003 Holmes Bend Road, Columbia, KY, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at 5:15 a.m., at the Metzmeier Nursing Home in Campbellsville, KY. He was the son of the late William Leslie and Vergie Ann Allison McFarland, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of VFW Post 6097, and a retired factory worker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Sparks McFarland, in 1998. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Joyce McFarland, Columbia; one grandson, Jason McFarland, Columbia; two sisters, Verna Bender and Imogene Murrell, both of Bradenton, Florida; and several other relatives and friends. The funeral service is Thursday, March 6, 2003, at 2 p.m., at Grissom Funeral Home with burial in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Mr. McFarland will be accorded military honors presented by VFW Post 6097. Grissom Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
