Norman Clifton Spires, 78 Herman Clifton Spires, 78, Kokomo, IN, died Tuesday, February 25, 2003, at 6:15 a.m. at the Manor Care Health Care Center in Kokomo. A native of Adair County, he was the son of the late Ancil and Martha Mings Spires. He was retired from Continental Steel Corporation in Kokomo after 25 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Williams Spires, on May 11, 1979. Survivors include two sons, Douglas G. Spires, Russiaville, IN; and Phillip C. Spires, Kokomo; one daughter, Connie Mae Spires, Kokomo; four brothers, Robert Spires and Junior Spires, both of Columbia, Joe Spires of Edmonton, and Ivan Spires of Oakford, IN; three sisters, Beatrice Phipps and Margaret Frances Hancock, both of Kokomo, and Imogene Giles, Knifley; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Spires, and a sister, Lillian Burton. The funeral service will be Saturday, March 1, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. EST, at Ellers Mortuary in Kokomo, with visitation after 4 p.m. on Friday. Local visitation will be Sunday, March 2, 2003, after 11 a.m. at Grissom Funeral Home. Commital service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, in the Columbia Cemetery with Rev. George Hancock officiating, with burial to follow.
