Green Co. Fiscal Court awarded $412k in discretionary funds By Chris Jessie Elizabethtown , KY - During Monday's Green County Fiscal Court meeting, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) Department of Rural and Municipal Aid Commissioner Gray Tomblyn II announced $412,700 in discretionary funds for vital resurfacing work on Hogards Chapel Road, Bramlett-Kemp Road, Despain Road, Old Caven Bend Road, and Aetna Grove Road. Resurfacing repairs address existing surface cracks, potholes, raveling, and base failures. This investment supports Governor Matt Bevin's commitment to prioritize transportation infrastructure projects and increase economic opportunity across the Commonwealth. "The Bevin Administration continues to focus on taking care of what we have at both the state and local level to address critical infrastructure needs that improve safety and support job creation and retention," said KYTC Secretary Greg Thomas. "This funding builds upon existing transportation investments and allows the Cabinet to collaborate with local governments to identify projects that will have a large impact in communities." Green County Judge-Executive John Frank identified these roads as being among the most critical in the county. The roads to be resurfaced are heavily travelled by agriculture equipment, tractor-trailers, school buses and passenger vehicles. "The Green County Fiscal Court is extremely grateful to Governor Bevin and the Transportation Cabinet for this award of discretionary funding," said Judge-Executive Frank. "I personally want to thank Governor Bevin for his vision as to the needs of rural Kentucky counties. This award will be a huge benefit to the citizens of Green and surrounding counties as well as to the fiscal court." Projects submitted to the Department of Rural and Municipal Aid for discretionary fund consideration were evaluated by the KYTC district staff to assess the condition of roads and determine the most critical needs based on factors such as safety, economic impact, and traffic volumes. "I'm pleased to hear that Green County has received funding for these resurfacing projects," said Sen. David Givens. "Having safe and dependable roadways will no doubt benefit our community." Rep. Brandon Reed, also applauded the importance of the upcoming repairs. "I'm pleased to see the state make resurfacing these roads a priority so that the families who travel them every day will have a safer, smoother ride," said Rep. Reed. "Maintaining our roads has to be a priority. If we don't maintain them, we'll have to replace them." The Green County Fiscal Court is responsible for administering the work, and KYTC will reimburse the county for the projects. Resurfacing work will address:
