Fiscal Court hears citizen requests on Crocus Creek, Westlake

By Linda Waggener

In the public comments section of the Fiscal Court meeting June 9, 2019, Ricky Thompson and Frank Robinson asked for attention to a challenge on Crocus Creek in Southern Adair County. They said a new land owner has blocked an entry point that has been used by the public to access Crocus Creek for many years.

The road has been removed from county road service, however Magistrate Daryl Flatt said that he has had experience in his district and just because the road is no longer designated for service, that doesn't necessarily mean a change in ownership of the land. The two guests requested help from magistrate Sammy Baker who said he is working on it, and from Fiscal Court, in resolving the problem peaceably.

Jerry Burton appeared before Fiscal Court and asked for an accounting to the public from the Westlake Regioinal Hospital Board as to where the debt stands at this time and what amount of money is in the bank account. He believes that the ten cent tax on the dollar may be an illegal amount. He asks for an accounting to the public.

Here he speaks to the audience making the point that the tax affects every land owner and vehicle owner in Adair County and every one of them needs an accounting and answers to questions.
