Genealogy Interest In Adair County. Submitted by _Carlis B. Wilson Family Roots, Family Tree, Ancestry Search or Genealogy.Call it what you may, there has been a growing interest in this rewarding endeavor. I recently read a article on the subject of genealogy in the state of Kentucky. I was surprised to find as many as 50,000 people in Kentucky may be doing some form of family search. Adair Countians are among the fastest-paced ancestry chasers. There are many sources for researchers in Adair County Kentucky. Just a short five or six years back I remember just a few places would come up in a search engine when searching for Adair County Kin on the World Wide Web. However today its far different than then. There are many web sites, messages boards, and mail lists with connections for Adair County researchers. Just recently there has been a surge of genealogical interest. I receive from 25 -125 emails a day inquiring about the five (5) Adair County families on my family web site. I received old photos and documents of family members and post them on site, some are quite surprised to find photos of grandparents or great grandparents there. Every time I visit the family site there has been a good number of visits. The day the site was listed in Rootsweb.com newsletter, there were about 600 visits to the site. If you would like to visit some time the URL is: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mysurnames Some Adair County Research Sources: Adair County Public Library: The Adair County Public Library Genealogical Society Room houses hundreds of helpful resources for family research, including computer base Family Archives CDs. Adair County Court Clerk's Office: The Adair County Genealogical Society has a New Web Site.. If you are interested in starting your family search there is help just waiting for you. A good place to start is yourself, your family members that you know and then the family records, like the genealogy pages of the family Bible, birth, death certificates and marriage bonds etc... _Carlis This story was posted on 2003-01-11 18:31:43
