Storm damage reported in southern Adair Friday evening

UPDATE Saturday, June 22, 2019 7amCT: Road crews and Fire department have been out all night taking care of results of the storm according to Mike Keltner, Director of Adair County Emergency Management.

9:30-10pmCT Friday, June 21, 2019: Volunteers are being called on to help clear the road in the Sparksville area of southern Adair County after the severe thunderstorms rolled through earlier this evening.



Two volunteer units are requested, one is needed to come in from Hwy 61, and another is needed to come in from Highway 704.

Fallen trees have left road blockage and traffic needs diverting, a power line is reported down but not reported to be sparking. Rain continues to fall while crews are working.

Road crews worked through the night on blockages

Scenes like this drew many volunteers to work through the night Friday after the thunderstorms came through in the nine o'clock hour. Judge Cowan said the Adair County Road Department was out for over 12 hours and State crews were out for 9 or 10.

Making roads passable to begin a new week

State road crew members worked on Wilson Road Sunday evening, continuing to clear roads after Friday night's damaging storm. Brandon Petty was on the loader with Trevor Murphy and Bruce Cundiff (not in picture). In a separate photo, Adair County Road Department Foreman Barry Hamlett and operator Terry Williams worked opening Keen Wilson Road. Storms are possible again this evening.
