Ricky Kerns, 58, Russell Springs, KY (1960-2019)

Ricky Kerns of Russell Springs died Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Hospital in Danville. He was 58 years old.

The funeral service for Ricky Kerns will be held at 10amCT on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N. Main St., Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Jerry Smith officiating.

Visitation is requested from 5pmCT until 8pmCT on Wednesday and after 8amCT on Thursday until the funeral time at 10amCT.


He was born November 14, 1960 in Russell County to the late Forrest C. & Lois Hill Kerns.

Rick was a Veteran of the US Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert & Barney Kerns; a sister, Jeannette Doss; and a daughter, Amanda Kerns.

Survivors include:
  • His wife: Jackie Kerns, Russell Springs
  • Three children: Casey (Ben) Steele, Taylorsville, Ky, Travis Kerns, Mt. Eden, Ky, and Michael "Hooch" Kerns, Taylorsville, Ky
  • Two grandchildren: Waylon & Olivia Steele
  • Four brothers: Fred (Cindy) Kerns, Adair County, Ky, Joe (Carrie) Kerns, Russell Springs, Paul (Holly) Kerns, Russell Springs, and Dwight (Bonnie) Kerns, Jamestown
  • Two sisters: Loretta (Jerry) Smith, Russell Springs, and Shirley (Dennis) Wilson, Russell Springs
  • A host of nieces and nephews
Active Pallbearers: Jeff Kerns, Nick Kerns, Gary Smith, Keith Kerns, Matt Dehart, Eric Kerns

Honorary Pallbearers: Matt Kerns, Steven Kerns, Tony Kerr, Ben Steele

The family suggest memorials be made to the Ricky Kerns funeral fund. These can be made at the funeral home.
