By Christopher Coombs

Lindsey Wilson athletics finished in third place of the 2018-19 NAIA Learfield IMG Directors' Cup standings, National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) officials announced on Thursday.

For the 2018-19 year, the Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in 13 sports during their championships. The NAIA must count four sports -- men and women's basketball, men's soccer and volleyball -- with the remaining nine coming from any of the remaining championship sports.

Lindsey Wilson scored in the maximum 13 sports allotted, having three scores omitted, including men's tennis, women's indoor track & field and women's golf.

Women's tennis accounted for the final spring points with 53 after tying for ninth place.

Five winter sports teams collected 355 points as Lindsey Wilson men's wrestling scored 90 points for its runner-up finish at the national championship. Men's indoor track & field secured 77.5 points for its fourth-place finish. Men's swimming (7th place) tallied 69 points, women's swimming (8th) picked up 66 points and women's basketball scored 53 points after tying for ninth.

Lindsey Wilson amassed 168 points during the fall season after scoring in volleyball and men and women's soccer. Volleyball collected totaled 73 points for their fifth-place finish. Women's soccer also finished in fifth place to tally 70 points as men's soccer added 25 points.

The MSC finished atop the conference standings with a pair of teams finishing in the top-10, Lindsey Wilson and Cumberlands (Ky.). The Patriots finished in seventh place with 649.25 points.

All six other members of the MSC scored points in the year-long competition.
