National Day of Prayer, Thu 2 May 2019

The National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. In 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed the amended law designating the first Thursday of May as a day of national prayer.

The Adair County Ministerial Association is sponsoring a local meeting for the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 2, 2019, on the steps of the Adair County Courthouse. The theme for this year's Day of Prayer is "Love One Another." The theme comes from the words of Jesus in John 13:34, "Love one another. Just as I have loved you."

Adair County Prayer on the Square

2019-05-03 - Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Tiffany Kessler, columbiamagazine.com.
May 2, 2019 is set aside as National Day of Prayer. A wonderful crowd was gathered at noon in front of the Adair County Annex Building to pray specifically for topics that face our area and nation - government, military, media, education, church, business, and family. The theme this year, “Love One Another”, was taken from the scripture John 13:34. Pictured leading one of the prayers is Pastor Billy Hewitt from Gradyville Baptist Church. - Tiffany Kessler
