Blue Raiders drop game 1 of series against CU on Senior Day

Lindsey Wilson baseball dropped game one of their three game series 12-2 against Mid-South Conference foe Campbellsville (Ky.) on Thursday afternoon.

The Blue Raiders (7-30, 2-11 MSC) were outhit 10-2 by the Tigers (25-15, 9-4 MSC). Lindsey Wilson and Campbellsville return to action on Monday, April 22, 2019, as they close out the series with a doubleheader set for 2pmCT at Egnew Park, Lindsey Wilson Sports Complex, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY.


Campbellsville opened the game with a solo run in the first inning before holding the Blue Raiders scoreless heading into the second.

The Tigers were able to push another run across home in the second and kept Lindsey Wilson from producing any offense. Campbellsville added another run in the third to take their lead to 3-0.

During the fourth, the Tigers tacked on another two runs off a two-run homer over the left field fence. Tyler Maskill led off the inning for LWC, connecting for the team's first hit of the afternoon with a single to left-center field.

Two outs would pass before the Blue Raiders could cross home with two runs of their own. Seth Price knocked out a two-run homer over the left-field side, his third of the season and the teams second hit of the day.

After a scoreless fifth, Lindsey Wilson kept the Tigers from connecting on a hit in the top of the sixth. The Blue Raiders managed to get two batters on base off two walks, putting a runner in scoring position but could not take advantage of the opportunity.

The seventh inning did not bode well for Lindsey Wilson, as the Tigers notched seven runs on four hits to put away the game. Campbellsville took advantage of the Blue Raider miscues by reaching base on four hits, two hit by pitches, two errors and a walk.

Bradley Hines (0-4) began the game from the mound, throwing for 3.2 innings. Hines recorded two strikeouts during his time on the bump in the loss. Jose Diana pitched for 2.1 innings before Vincent Boils and Francisco Arias would make brief appearances for the Blue Raiders.

Anthony Arias (5-3) picked up the win for the Tigers, pitching for 5.2 innings and striking out six batters in the process. Jesse Davis saw just over a innings worth of action to close out the game.
