LWC Women's outdoor track and field takes 2nd at UC

Williamsburg, KY - The Lindsey Wilson women's outdoor track and field team captured second place at the UC Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Women's track and field earned 92.5 team points along with two first-place finishes and three A-cut standards.

In the 4x100 relay, the team of Safia Bright, Annesha Harris, Alexia DeHaven-Boyd and Marie Ninamou earned a second place finish with an A-cut standard time of 47.81 seconds.


Bright added another A-cut standard in the 200-meter dash, sprinting her way to a first-place finish with a time of 24.42 seconds. DeHaven-Boyd added in with a seventh-place finish in the 200-meters with a time of 25.79, while Ninamou took 10th place finishing in 26.34 seconds.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Harris captured a fifth-place finish with a time of 15.19, while DeHaven-Boyd chipped in with a 10th place finish with a time of 16.83 seconds.

Dezare Jackson earned a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:29.99, while Meredith Johnson came in 10th place at 2:33.38.

In the women's field events, Paige Pettel led the women's team with one A-cut standard and three top-three finishes. Pettel captured her A-cut standard in the shot put with a toss of 13.91 meters. Pettel took second in the Hammer with a throw of 44.21 meters and second in Discus with a toss of 40.57 meters.

De'Jah Smith added in with two fourth-place finishes in the Hammer throw with a toss of 43.41 meters and in the shot put with a throw of 11.33 meters. Smith competed in the discus finishing in eighth with a 35.12-meter throw.

In the long jump, Harris captured third place with a jump of 5.39 meters. Williams earned a seventh-place finish jumping 4.96 meters, while Sam Sowell placed ninth at 4.80 meters and Bright at 4.67 meters.

Harris earned a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a 10.32-meter jump. Williams added in with a fifth-place finish jumping 10.10 meters, while DeHaven-Boyd captured seventh at 9.62 meters.

In the High Jump, Williams captured a tie for fifth place with a jump of 1.49 meters.

The Lindsey Wilson women's outdoor track and field team back in action on April 26-27 for the Mid-South Conference Championships in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
