Welcome signs to be at every major highway entrance By John Overby, editor Central Kentucky News Journal The City of Campbellsville is beginning a phase of "re-branding," according to Larry Smith, and the first sign of progress in this area is already in full view. As you enter Campbellsville coming from Columbia on Ky. 55, passers-by may notice a new sign letting motorists know they are entering Campbellsville. "We just want to give everyone a good welcome," said Smith, who is the General Manager of 99.9 The Big Dawg and assistant PRIDE coordinator for the city. Very soon, there will be a welcome sign at every major highway entrance into Campbellsville: one each on Hodgenville Road, New Lebanon Road and Greensburg Road, in addition to the one already up on Ky. 55. Smith is working on the project with the Campbellsville/Taylor County Chamber of Commerce and American Legion Post 82, as well as a few anonymous donors who are helping donate to the project. Drew Underwood of Underwood Designs designed the signs. Smith said this idea started during the bicentennial celebration in 2017, but there "just wasn't enough time" to get the project finished at that point. Smith said plans have been made since that time, and now, one of the signs is already up and the others are being made "as we speak." "We just want to see Campbellsville sparkle," he said. "We're trying to get our community fired up about our community." Smith said he expects another sign up within the next two weeks, and he added there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the next couple of weeks as well. "We want it to be a new day," he said. "A business with no sign is the sign of no business." This story was posted on 2019-03-28 19:18:00
