Geneva Nolene Bryant Rooks, 88, Adair Co. native (1930-2019)

She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and she was a wonderful cook.

Geneva Nolene Rooks of Edinburgh, Indiana, passed from this life at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at her home. She was 88 years old.

A graveside service will be held at 3pmET on Monday, March 25, 2019, in Section, Mooney G, at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, Indiana; Virgil Clotfelter will officiate. Mrs. Rooks will be laid to rest next to her husband following the service.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 12:30pmET to 2:30pmET on Monday, March 25, 2019, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home, 1029 Washington Street, Columbus, Indiana 47201.


Mrs. Rooks was born March 27, 1930, in Adair County, Kentucky, the loving daughter of Pete and Ethel Bryant. Geneva married Elmer Rooks; he preceded her in death December 25, 2009.

Mrs. Rooks worked many years in the manufacturing industry.

She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and she was a wonderful cook.

Mrs. Rooks is survived by her grandsons, Kevin (Anita) Rooks of Edinburgh, Indiana and Troy Rooks of Edinburgh, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Genessa Rooks of Shelbyville, Indiana, Tabitha Stewart of Caneyville, Kentucky, Logan Rooks of Greenwood, Indiana, Lilly Rooks of Edinburgh, Indiana, Sophia Rooks of Edinburgh, Indiana, Ariel Rooks of Edinburgh, Indiana and Cali Rooks of Edinburgh, Indiana; great-great grandchildren, Aeris and Sagan Louden of Caneyville, Kentucky and Camden Craig of Edinburgh, Indiana; and a sister, Evelyn Burton of Taylorsville, Indiana.

Mrs. Rooks was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her daughter, Charlotte Gabbard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1088, Columbus, Indiana 47202.
