Grants available for Victim Support Programs By Mike Wynn Frankfort, KY - Kentucky Justice Secretary John Tilley announced today that a mid-year application opportunity is now available for obtaining grant funding under the federal Victims of Crime Act, known as VOCA. The Kentucky Justice Cabinet's Grants Management Division is seeking competitive proposals to address gaps and needs in victim services throughout the state. The following service providers are encouraged to apply for the funds: state agencies, statewide member programs that serve crime victims, statewide organizations specifically providing services to underserved victims of crime, and statewide organizations that work to enhance the delivery of direct victim services. Agencies that have an active VOCA subaward for 2017-18 or 2018-19 are not eligible for this targeted funding opportunity. The application deadline is March 29, 2019, for an award period of April 1, 2019 through Sept. 30, 2020. The VOCA program funds a range of services to crime victims, including crisis intervention and follow-up, therapy, group counseling, information and referral, court advocacy, and assistance with victim compensation claims. All applications must be submitted online via the Kentucky Justice Electronic Grants Management System (eGMS). New applicants are encouraged to establish an account and become familiar with the system well in advance of the due date. Applicants should also note that validating a new user account requires 48-72 hours. Training videos and other aids are available by following the links on the Grants Management Branch webpage, http://justice.ky.gov/Pages/Grants-Management-Branch.aspx. Assistance with the application process may be obtained by contacting the Grants Management Branch at askgmb@ky.gov. This story was posted on 2019-03-12 13:38:23
