Bardstown pilot offering new take on bourbon tourism By Kacie Goode, The Kentucky Standard A local pilot is taking a new approach to how bourbon tourism is done in Bardstown, offering aerial views of old distilleries and historic sites around the county and surrounding areas. Bourbon Air Tours officially opens for business Friday and offers guests flights over Nelson, Bullitt, Washington and Marion counties with a narrative of more than 40 sites. In his tours, commercial pilot Terry Welshans points out pre-Prohibition distillery sites often not included in ground tours of the Bourbon Trail, as well as newly-constructed distilleries.
